Tuesday Track

Captain Rob had some nice festive 400s planned for this evening. After a couple of warm up laps and a few drills the session of 10 x 400 metres with 100 metres recovery began. The evening finished with a some speedwork in the form of 4 x 100m relay races, with three teams of four competing. All in all good session enjoyed by all. The track is closed for Christmas and New Year’s eve. The next track session will be on 7th January.

Tuesday track session

Thursday Long Run

With the upcoming second South Essex League Cross country race at Hadleigh on 29th December, something a little different this week as several members took up the Ilford AC offer of a hill session at the Redbridge Cycling Centre, Hog Hill. The session was run by Ilford AC Coach Rob Sargeant on the lit section of the cycle track. In the words of those who attended, it was tough, with hills, hills, and more hills.

An excellent attendance of 24 runners and supporters at Hainault country park for another cross country warm up session. With plenty of mud, puddles and hills to contend with it was the ideal preparation. The session planned by Captain Rob consisted of a two and a quarter mile warm up then 10 sets of hill repeats which equated to a further 2 miles and a cool down of varying lengths between 1 and 2 miles before retiring to the cafe for tea, coffee and club chips. A hard session but everyone enjoyed it, once they had finished, of course!
