Once again it was a weekend wash-out or wind-out to be more precise. Like Thorndon Park a fortnight ago, South Essex Cross Country League race No.5 at Weald Park was cancelled. A particular shame for us as we were expecting a strong team to show for this race. This means that it was a three race competition instead of five. Fortunately for us, when they calculated the final positions we finished third thus keeping our place in the 2nd division for next season. For our internal Club competition, it has been decided to hold our own race at Hainault Forest on 8 March. This means the trophy winners can be calculated on the basis of the best three of four races. More details are on TeamUp.

Tuesday’s track night was a follow on from the week before, with a warm up, drills and cool down and a main session of 8 x 3 minutes with 2 minutes recovery.  Good tough session by coach Alison (it’s official now she has her licence). With both Alison and Rob away on London marathon business, this week’s track session will be taken by Paul Wyatt and Debbie Coyle and will include the monthly timed mile.

It’s not all about the running

Thursday is usually the midweek run from The Joe Richardson school but this week we had also been invited to Redbridge Cycling Centre at Hog Hill for the last of the Ilford AC sessions. Several BRR members joined up with Ilford for the hill work on the floodlit part of the course. Not sure how many were at Castle Green for the midweek long run.

Saturday is, of course, parkrun day and this week’s participants were

What should have been the Weald Park cross country race ended up being a hilly run at Hainault. Despite the lousy weather a few hardy souls turned out for this last minute session.

Hills, tea and chips at Hainault.
